The Ministry of Finance has issued a press release discrediting a fake letter that has been circulating among shipping agents and stakeholders.
The counterfeit document, purportedly from the Ministry of Finance, discusses the implementation of an “Electronic Cargo Transit number (ECTN/SPN)” requirement for all shipments to Ghana, including transit shipments, starting from September 15, 2023.
In the press release, the Ministry clarifies that the letter and its content are fraudulent and should not be considered valid.
They also expressed gratitude to stakeholders who brought this issue to their attention and emphasized that any new policies or tax introductions would involve extensive consultation with relevant stakeholders.
The Ministry of Finance, through its Public Relations Unit, has assured the public that it will continue to maintain transparency in its operations and consult widely with stakeholders on any future policy changes.
