Former President John Dramani Mahama has sharply criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia‘s proposal to help Ghanaians purchase mobile phones on credit. Mahama, who will be contesting against Bawumia in the upcoming general elections, argued that what Ghanaians truly need are jobs, not credit schemes for phones.
Mahama stated that with stable employment, people would be able to afford their own mobile phones without relying on installment plans. His comments came in response to Bawumia’s widely debated idea of introducing a credit rating system that would allow citizens to buy phones and pay in small installments of GHC 1 and GHC 2.
