Mahama condemns detention of Kasoa NDC Parliamentary Candidate, calls for her immediate release

Former President has criticized the detention of , the Parliamentary Candidate for the Constituency, calling it an unwarranted act that heightens political tensions ahead of the upcoming national elections.

Mahama alleges that Inspector General of Police George Dampare, acting on directives from Advisor Albert Kan Dapaah, has unjustly detained Koryoo. He argues that this decision, driven by the National Security Secretariat, is politically motivated and intended to intimidate opposition figures.

“This action will needlessly raise the political temperature in the country and spark avoidable tension,” Mahama stated, emphasizing the importance of justice as a foundation for peace and stability in Ghana.

Mahama stressed that Koryoo's detention, despite being granted bail, appears to be a strategic move to stifle her campaign against incumbent MP of the . He urged the Inspector General of Police to reconsider and release Koryoo immediately to prevent further escalation.

He also called on the Peace Council, the government, and the public to recognize the critical role of justice in maintaining national stability and to ensure that the police service remains impartial and protective of all citizens, regardless of their political affiliations.

Mahama appealed for the police to serve and protect all Ghanaians fairly, without yielding to political pressures.
