The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly denied any involvement in the distribution of gari, rice, cloth, and other goods to influence voters in the forthcoming Kumawu by-election.

In a recent interview with Okay FM on May 19, 2023, the NPP's National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, refuted the allegations and labeled the viral videos as propaganda orchestrated by the opposition party.

Expressing his disbelief at the videos, Nana B emphasized that they depicted isolated incidents where individuals were seen distributing small quantities of rice and presenting a cloth to a single person.

He categorically stated that the NPP had no connection or participation in such activities. Instead, Nana B outlined that if the NPP were to distribute rice or other items, it would be done in a more organized and inclusive manner.

In response to one of the videos showing an individual distributing rice from a bag, Nana B expressed his astonishment, stating, “Are you serious? Look, the New Patriotic Party, we don't have anything in connection to that.”

He further explained that if the party were to distribute rice, it would be done on a larger scale, involving a significant number of people. He dismissed the videos as political orchestration by their opponents and emphasized that the NPP had progressed beyond such tactics.

Nana B also addressed another video showing two people presenting a cloth to an elderly woman. He dismissed it as mere propaganda and stated that the party had moved past such tactics, considering them outdated.

The viral videos in question have raised concerns as they depict individuals offering rice, cloth, and other items to voters in Kumawu, with the clear intention of influencing their voting choices in the upcoming by-election.

The NPP's denial of involvement in the vote-buying scandal comes as the political climate in Kumawu heats up ahead of the crucial by-election. Authorities and election observers are closely monitoring the situation to ensure a free and fair electoral process, devoid of any irregularities or attempts to sway voters through inducements.
