Kumasi, Ghana – The 5th Otumfuo Invitational Golf Tournament, held at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi, received substantial support from SIC Insurance Company, the headline sponsor, as part of their commitment to fostering golf's growth in Ghana.
The tournament, organized to honour Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, featured SIC Insurance Company as the primary sponsor for the second time.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Stephen Oduro, Managing Director of SIC, highlighted the significance of honouring Otumfuo and the integrity associated with his throne.
He expressed the company's enthusiasm for supporting the well-organized golf event, emphasizing that “my company also stands for integrity, so it was a wonderful platform for auxiliary business.”
Mr. Oduro revealed plans to sponsor another tournament at the Tema Golf Course in the future, underscoring SIC's long-standing support for sports in Ghana.
Notable events supported by the company include the Milo Marathon, H P Nyemitei Swag Cup, and the National Sports Festival.
The Managing Director also emphasized the role of golf tournaments in strengthening their relationships with high-value customers and key stakeholders. He noted that golfers from across the country and various sectors of the economy eagerly awaited these Invitational Tournaments.
Prof. Bernard Kofi Baiden, Operations Manager of the Kumasi Royal Golf Club, commended golfers for their professionalism and dedication to promoting the sport in Ghana. He described the tournament as prestigious and a means for Asantehene to appreciate golfers for their efforts.
In the competition, Lesley Boakye-Yiadom emerged as the overall winner in the Men's Group A event, securing 39 points. Isaac Simpson claimed the second position with 38 points, while Bernard Kofi Baiden took the third position with 37 points.
In the Ladies' event, Vivian Dick secured the top spot with 37 points, followed by Constance Awuni and Louise Serfontein, who secured the second and third positions with 33 points and 28 points, respectively.
Seth Bekoe Apeadu emerged as the overall winner in the Senior's event with 35 points. Richard Osei-Boakye and Kwaku Boachie Sarpong secured the second and third positions with 32 and 30 points, respectively.
In the Men's Group B event, Dominic Darkwa clinched the victory with 39 points, followed by Jojo Ampadu in the second position with 37 points, and John Akoto Inkum in the third position with 36 points.
