Asante Kotoko‘s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, says the club is going through a period of revival and has the quality to defeat Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) in the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors progressed after a hard-fought win over Nigerian side Kwara United, sealing a 5-3 aggregate victory. Kotoko edged the first leg in Accra 4-3 before earning a narrow 1-0 away win at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium.
Kotoko will now face Wydad, a club with three CAF Champions League titles to its name.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Sarfo Duku said:
“We have history against Wydad Athletic Club. We’ve played them twice, and we were just unlucky. For me, this year marks a revival for Asante Kotoko, and I am confident we can overcome WAC.”
The first leg is scheduled for October 17–19, with the return leg set for October 24–26.
