Klicks Africa Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting teens and youth on the Autism Spectrum, has donated GH¢100,000 to Madam Mary Yawo Grunitzky, a 75-year-old special needs mother.
Madam Grunitzky, a widow and single mother, cares for her 44-year-old son with cerebral palsy and has undertaken various jobs to sustain their daily lives.
Mrs. Mary Amoh Kufuor, the Founder and Executive Director of Klicks Africa Foundation, made the presentation to Madam Grunitzky.
The donation was prompted by the Special Mothers Project, an advocacy program for families of children with cerebral palsy, which shared Madam Grunitzky’s story on Facebook.
Mrs Kufuor expressed her empathy for the aged woman, recognizing the challenges of caring for a child with a disability.
She decided to raise funds to support Madam Grunitzky, and the donation was made possible through the generosity of her Facebook followers.
Madam Grunitzky, visibly surprised by the donation, expressed her gratitude with a simple “God bless all who donated to me abundantly.”
Mr Agbeko Awadzi, the co-founder of the Special Mothers Project, also thanked the donors and Mrs Kufuor for their support in addressing Madam Grunitzky’s needs.
