In a statement issued in Accra, the Judicial Service requested JUSAG to suspend the strike in order to participate in an engagement between the Ministry of Finance and the Service, scheduled for May 31, 2023.
JUSAG initiated the strike action due to the delay in approving the recommendation/advice of the Judicial Council regarding the review of their salaries and related allowances in accordance with Article 149 of the 1992 Constitution, among other concerns.
The Judicial Service assured the JUSAG executives that their concerns, as outlined in their press release, would be addressed, and therefore, their cooperation in resolving the matter was necessary.
The statement further explained that initially, Management had invited the JUSAG executives to provide them with updates on the ongoing discussions between the Government and Management regarding the salary and allowance review. However, the invitation was not honoured by JUSAG.
