Ghana Police Service IGP leads delegation to FBI New York Field Office to strengthen law enforcement cooperation

Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Inspector General of Police (IGP), has led a delegation from the Ghana Police Service to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) New York Field Office in the United States, marking the first official engagement of its kind to enhance bilateral law enforcement collaboration.

According to a statement from the Ghana Police Service, the visit is part of a broader effort by the U.S. to deepen operational partnerships and share best practices with Ghana’s police. Discussions with Christopher Raia, Assistant Director-in-Charge of the Field Office, and his team focused on joint strategies for cyber-enabled fraud investigations, intelligence-led policing, counterterrorism, and the application of technology in crime detection and prevention.

“Partnerships like this reaffirm our shared responsibility to protect our people. The Ghana Police Service is committed to adopting advanced investigative tools and intelligence collaboration to prevent crime and ensure the safety and trust of our citizens,” Mr Yohuno said.

Mr Raia commended the growing cooperation, citing recent successful extraditions of cyber fraudsters from the U.S. to Ghana as evidence of the impact of sustained international collaboration.

The visit reaffirmed both agencies’ dedication to information exchange, capacity building, and coordinated operations, highlighting a shared commitment to countering transnational threats and advancing modern policing in Ghana.
