The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has announced the completion of the first reviews of Rwanda's loan program under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility. As a result, the IMF's executive board has approved a disbursement of $98.6 million for Rwanda.
In a statement, the IMF acknowledged that Rwanda's economy experienced robust growth in 2022. However, the country now faces challenges arising from recent disastrous floods, which have compounded the financial pressures caused by overlapping crises.
The IMF highlighted that Rwanda's reforms under the Policy Coordination Instrument program were largely on track. Additionally, the IMF praised the authorities' strong commitment to advancing the climate agenda.
