The Tema Regional Office of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has paid a working visit to the Centre of the World Golf Club in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality as part of activities to commemorate the 2025 World Tourism Day (WTD).
World Tourism Day, observed annually on September 27, is being celebrated this year under the theme “Tourism and Peace.”
Leading the delegation, Mr. Isaac Asiam, Tema Regional Manager of the GTA, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to enhancing tourism prospects within its operational areas, including Kpone-Katamanso.
He noted that the Centre of the World Golf Club was a unique tourism asset, as it was the only golf course in the world intersected by the Greenwich Meridian Line.
“This unique feature, if developed well, could attract tourists from both Ghana and abroad. The Centre of the World Golf Club is a remarkable treasure. It is not just about playing golf; it is about showcasing Ghana as the meeting point of the world,” Mr. Asiam said.
He called for stronger collaboration between businesses, local government, and community leaders to position the site as a top destination, while pledging the GTA’s commitment to creating innovative strategies to market tourist attractions in the Tema Region.
Mr. Asiam further urged community members to support the protection and promotion of such sites, stressing that sustainable tourism thrives when locals are actively involved.
The visit formed part of a broader GTA agenda to highlight hidden and under-promoted tourist attractions nationwide in the buildup to World Tourism Day.
This year’s celebration is expected to bring together stakeholders to reflect on the role of tourism in promoting peace, unity, cultural exchange, and sustainable development.
