In a bid to restore Kumawood’s fading glory, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has inaugurated a 17-member ministerial committee to chart a path for the industry’s revival.
The once-thriving film industry has seen a significant decline in recent years, leading to job losses and a downturn in local film production. The newly formed committee, chaired by Bishop Ofori-Adu, brings together key industry players, including veteran actors Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu and Bill Asamoah, to develop a strategic framework for revitalization.
At the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, March 4, Dr. Amoakohene emphasized the importance of unity among industry stakeholders, stating that a collective effort would drive government support for the sector.
“We as leaders of the country need you to unite and work together. That unity will encourage the president to invest more in reviving the industry,” he said.
