The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has published a list of beneficiaries from its scholarship program, following an RTI request by JoyNews. The request, made by Raymond Acquah of The Multimedia Group, sought comprehensive details on both foreign and local scholarships funded by GNPC since the program began.
Acquah requested the names, institutions, courses, amounts awarded, and criteria used for selection. He also sought clarification on the annual expenditure for the scholarships. However, GNPC deferred the release, citing Section 22 of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989), which allows public institutions to delay information if it is scheduled for publication within 90 days.
GNPC later posted a partial list of beneficiaries, detailing their names, year of award, and programs of study on its website. Despite this, the list did not include the full details initially requested.
The published list can be accessed on the GNPC Foundation document.
