The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced the suspension of the National Roads Authority Act 2024 (Act 1118) to allow for further stakeholder engagement.
In a press release issued on February 7, 2025, the Ministry explained that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to addressing concerns raised by key stakeholders.
The Act, passed by Parliament in July 2024, was designed to streamline the management of Ghana’s road infrastructure by merging the Ghana Highway Authority, the Department of Urban Roads, and the Department of Feeder Roads into a unified structure for improved coordination.
“The decision to suspend the implementation of the NRA Act is a result of the government’s commitment to addressing major concerns raised by some key stakeholders,” the statement noted.
The Ministry reassured the public of its dedication to improving operational efficiency and coordination in the road sector.
