The Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) has inspected the Borteyman construction site to assess the progress of work on the facility ahead of the 13th African Games, scheduled for March 2024. The facility is expected to host some sporting events during the games, and contractors are still on-site, with work progressing steadily.
The inspection was led by the GTF's top brass, including Mr Isaac Aboagye Duah (President) and Godfrey Tetteh, a member of the Tennis Development Committee. They joined the Local Organising Committee to tour the Borteyman construction site.
The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Dr Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, encouraged various sporting federations in Ghana to join the LOC on their monthly facility inspection visits to familiarize themselves with the projects and make necessary inputs.
He said, “These are things that we are encouraging. The rationale behind this is to get all the various federation heads to visit the facilities and provide input on the construction. NBA Africa has already visited the sites, and we will go with the local federation soon.”
After the field visit, the contractors delivered a presentation on the prototype of the final project. During the engagement, the GTF leadership suggested to the contractors consider including three offices in the tennis facility at the Borteyman complex.
Speaking after the visit, Mr Duah expressed satisfaction with the progress of work, saying, “The facility, when completed, will be able to host international events and help unearth more tennis talents for the country.”
The 13th African Games will be held in Accra and Kumasi, with over 50 African countries expected to participate in various sporting disciplines.
