Ghana Health Service commends KOICA for impactful healthcare support

The management of the (GHS) has expressed its gratitude to the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for its significant contributions to healthcare delivery in Ghana.

Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the Director-General of the GHS, acknowledged KOICA's valuable support in improving healthcare services and addressing critical health challenges in the country.

Through KOICA's financial and technical assistance, the GHS has strengthened primary healthcare, enhanced community-based programs, and promoted Universal Health Coverage.

At the national launch of the Phase II KOICA + project in Nalerigu, the Regional capital, the GHS presented a citation to officials of KOICA, commending them for their exemplary partnership and dedication to the health sector.

The GHS highlighted that KOICA's support has contributed to improved access to quality healthcare, reduced maternal and child mortality rates, and overall health outcomes in Ghana.

In a separate citation, the GHS recognized and appreciated Mr. Seungmin Oh, the Acting KOICA Country Director, for his outstanding dedication, leadership, and contributions to improving primary healthcare, with a focus on maternal, neonatal, and child health in the and North East Regions.

The launch of the Phase II KOICA CHPS+ project in the North East Region is expected to enhance healthcare delivery and be a game-changer in health service delivery in the region, benefitting all six districts.

The successful implementation of the project in the Upper East Region resulted in a significant reduction in institutional maternal mortality and under-five mortality rates.

The Regional Minister, Mr. Zakaria Yidana, expressed gratitude to KOICA and other development partners for their continuous support to improve the lives of residents in the region.

He emphasized the Regional Coordinating Council's readiness to collaborate with any development partner for the benefit of the region's residents.
