Police engage Wa Senior High School to strengthen safety and discipline

The Ghana Police Service Upper West Regional Command has engaged students and staff of Wa Senior High School to reinforce security, discipline, and peaceful coexistence within the school community.

The visit, held on Monday, February 16, 2026, was led by Regional Commander DCOP Francis Yiribaare. It followed an incident during the school’s SRC Week celebrations on January 28, 2026, where some students were attacked by students from another school.

Police say seventeen suspects have since been arrested and are currently before the court.

Addressing about 2,000 students and staff, DCOP Yiribaare reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting educational institutions across the region.

He stressed that schools must remain centres of learning, character development, and leadership rather than grounds for violence and criminal activity.

He cautioned students against misconduct, vandalism, and involvement in illicit substances, warning that criminal behaviour at a young age can negatively affect future academic and professional opportunities.

The Headmaster, Alhaji Iddrisu Thirdman, commended the police for their swift response to the incident and assured continued collaboration to maintain discipline and lawful conduct on campus.

The engagement underscored the ongoing partnership between the Police and the school community in promoting a safe and secure learning environment.
