GTEC publishes a list of unrecognised tertiary institutions in Ghana and abroad

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has released a public notice listing institutions it says are currently not recognised due to quality assurance concerns.

The Corporate Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission issued a notice dated Thursday, 28th May 2026, indicating that the listed institutions are not accredited and urging the public to exercise due diligence regarding certificates issued by them.

The institutions listed include 70 entities operating across different countries, including the USA, India, the UK, Switzerland, Mexico, Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Italy, France, Barbados, Andorra, and Zambia.

The Commission warned that engagement with these institutions may result in qualifications that are not recognised for academic or professional purposes in Ghana.

GTEC urged the public to verify accreditation status before enrolling in any tertiary programme and to rely only on approved institutions for higher education.
