GES assures placement for all qualified BECE candidates

The Ghana Education Service has assured all qualified Basic Education Certificate Examination candidates of placement into Senior High and Technical schools across the country.

In a statement issued on 14th May 2026 and signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, for management, the Ghana Education Service congratulated Junior High School graduates on completing the BECE and announced that preparations had been completed to receive fresh students into schools on 18th September 2026.

According to the Service, all qualified candidates will be placed in schools, adding that adequate infrastructure and facilities are available to accommodate them.

GES also dismissed reports suggesting that about 72,000 students risk not being placed, describing the claims as speculative and inaccurate.

The Service further stated that ongoing efforts to phase out the double-track system would not affect access to senior high and technical education but would instead improve the quality of teaching and learning while maintaining full access for students.
