Volta Regional Minister James Gunu has visited the Wli Waterfalls with the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Mrs Marilyn Maame Efua Houadjeto, as part of efforts to explore tourism and investment opportunities in the region.
The visit also included the Volta Regional Director of the GTA, Madam Roberta Okine-Fumador, the Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, Prosper Kumi, and other officials.

According to Mr Gunu, the visit aimed to assess the area’s tourism potential and identify challenges affecting tourism development, particularly access to tourist sites.
The delegation paid a courtesy call on the chiefs and elders of the Wli community and interacted with staff, residents and visitors at the site.
Mr Gunu noted that the Volta Region has more than 120 tourist sites with significant untapped potential that could create jobs and stimulate local economic growth if properly developed.
He described Wli Waterfalls as one of the region’s most important tourism assets and reaffirmed the commitment of authorities to work with stakeholders and investors to maximise its potential.
The Minister disclosed that the Ghana Tourism Authority is engaging investors on opportunities to develop eco-lodges, restaurants and other hospitality facilities to enhance the visitor experience and create employment.
He added that efforts would continue to position the Volta Region as a leading tourism destination in Ghana.
