Photojournalists from across Africa are participating in a five-day training seminar aimed at enhancing their skills and knowledge in the field. The program, organised by the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA), is being held at the African Centre for the Training of Journalists (CAFJ) under the theme, “Mastering Photojournalism.”
The training is designed to provide participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, strengthening their capacities to tell compelling visual stories. It also serves as a platform for sharing experiences and discussing the challenges facing photojournalists across the continent.

In his welcoming address, Mr Fouad Arif, President of FAAPA and Director General of the Moroccan Press Agency (MAP), emphasised the importance of photojournalism as a powerful tool for storytelling and shaping public opinion. “In a global context where information and images circulate at a frantic speed, African Press Agencies must attach great importance to the development of their photographic services to keep pace with the profound changes brought by artificial intelligence and the digital revolution,” he stated.
Mr Arif encouraged participants to refine their techniques and develop their creativity, noting that the skills gained would contribute to the growth of their respective press agencies across Africa.
Facilitating the training, Mr Jean Bedel Ndandula of the Congolese Press Agency highlighted that the seminar brings together reporters and photographers from 25 African press agencies, creating a collaborative environment for professional development and knowledge exchange.
The “Mastering Photojournalism” seminar underscores the commitment of African press agencies to adapt to evolving media landscapes while strengthening the continent’s journalistic capacity.
