Ransford Antwi urges Bono MPs to prioritise development over politics at COBAANA convention

Mr Ransford Antwi, an Independent Parliamentary Candidate in the 2024 elections in the Bono Region, has appealed to Members of Parliament in the area to put aside partisan interests and work collectively for the holistic development of the region.

Speaking at the 2025 Annual Convention of the Council for Bono and Ahafo Citizens in North America (COBAANA) held in Denver, Colorado, Mr Antwi stressed that the welfare of the region must rise above political party lines. He urged party executives and ministers of state from the Bono Region to prioritise tackling infrastructure deficits that continue to hold back development.

Mr Antwi, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Suncity Group of Companies, used the platform to commend COBAANA for its contributions to the growth of the Bono and Ahafo areas. In a statement issued by his office and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), he praised the association of North America–based Bono and Ahafo natives for maintaining a strong, non-partisan stance while investing in regional progress.

“As we continue to look for the next Kofi Abrefa Busia, JH Mensah, JH Owusu Acheampong, IK Adjei Mensah and Lawyer Munifie, it’s important that we do well to support anyone who emerges as a rising star without looking at the party he or she belongs to,” the statement said.

He further expressed gratitude to COBAANA for supporting his political journey during the 2024 elections, emphasising that their encouragement, despite their neutral posture, had been invaluable.

During the convention, COBAANA honoured Mr Antwi with a special certificate of appreciation in recognition of his selfless contributions to the association and the broader development of the Bono Region.
