Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has been appointed as the Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency.
Gbande, a key strategist in the NDC, has played a vital role in the party’s grassroots mobilization and electoral strategies. His appointment is seen as a move to leverage his expertise in operations and administration to enhance efficiency at the Presidency.

The decision has sparked excitement among NDC supporters, with many hailing it as a strategic step towards strengthening party-government relations. Party stalwarts note that Gbande is the first NDC executive to be appointed to a key government position while still holding his party role.
Having been instrumental in the NDC’s operations before, during, and after the 2024 elections, Gbande is expected to bring his vast experience to the government’s administrative structure.
The Volta Regional NDC, in a congratulatory statement, praised his dedication to the party and national service.
“Comrade Mustapha Gbande’s exemplary service to the Party in the Volta Region as Deputy Regional Secretary and this nation, particularly during his role as Deputy General Secretary of the party, palpably underscores his unwavering dedication, professionalism, and love for country,” the statement read.
The regional party also expressed confidence in his ability to excel in his new role, pledging full support for his appointment.
“The Volta Regional NDC affirms its full support as he contributes to the collective effort of resetting and rebuilding the Ghana we envisage under the leadership of H.E. John Dramani Mahama,” it added.
Gbande’s appointment forms part of a broader effort by President Mahama to strengthen governance and streamline operations at the Presidency.
