MTN to climax MoMoFest in Kumasi with Sarkodie’s Rapperholic Concert

MobileMoney Limited, a subsidiary of MTN Ghana, will host the MoMo Festival (MoMoFest) in Kumasi, climaxing the two-day celebration with the Rapperholic Concert headlined by award-winning rapper Sarkodie at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The festival opens with a cashless fair, designed to promote financial inclusion, highlight MoMo fraud prevention, and showcase the convenience of mobile money in everyday life.

According to Mr Alfred Hammond, Senior Manager for Fintech Marketing at MobileMoney Limited, MoMoFest is more than entertainment — it seeks to make financial services accessible, relatable, and rewarding. He added that the festival would also serve as a platform to educate the public on fraud awareness and prevention.

More than 50 vendors will participate in the Cashless Market and Fair, where patrons will purchase goods and services exclusively with MoMo. Other activities include drama performances, a game show, the MoMo Keteke, and an Artist Night in partnership with Sarkcess Music.

Admission to the fair is free, with access granted to customers who download the MoMo app. For the Rapperholic Concert, tickets are available through a referral system on the app:

  • Customers who refer five friends receive two regular tickets.
  • Those who refer 20 friends earn two VIP tickets.

MTN has also arranged transportation for 100 winners from Accra to Kumasi for the festival.

Mr Hammond reminded customers of the three golden rules of MoMo:

  1. Never disclose your PIN.
  2. Never allow strangers to transact on your behalf.
  3. Remember that official MTN/MoMo calls come only from 0244300000.

He cautioned against fraudulent schemes like fake MoMo Capital investments, urging the public to verify all promotions on MTN’s official social media pages.

“MoMo remains a very secure platform. Fraudsters can only succeed when customers willingly give them access through calls, text messages, or suspicious links,” Mr Hammond said.

The two-day festival is expected to draw thousands of patrons, with Sarkodie’s Rapperholic Concert as the grand climax on Saturday night.
