President John Mahama has stated that his administration will require $1.7 billion to complete the unfinished hospitals under the Agenda 111 initiative. Speaking at a meeting with the Christian Council, he expressed concern over the numerous uncompleted projects, emphasizing that even some of the commissioned hospitals lack essential infrastructure.
“Now we need 1.7 billion US dollars to complete the Agenda 111 projects,” he said.

He revealed that nearly 90 hospitals initiated under the previous government remain unfinished, which has hindered efforts to expand healthcare access across the country.
“The previous government started Agenda 111 but has not been able to finish the hospitals. There are so many of them unfinished. Even the ones they commissioned don’t have a single bed,” President Mahama noted.
To address this issue, he proposed a collaborative effort with religious organizations to help complete some of the stalled projects.
“If the missions have a hospital in an area, we are not coming to compete with the missions by building a hospital. We will use the resources to improve the mission hospitals so that they can provide the service,” he explained.
He further suggested that religious missions willing to take on the responsibility could complete and manage some of the hospitals to strengthen healthcare delivery in their respective regions.
