Nurning students take online licencing exams

The Ministry of Health has announced a major relief for nursing and allied health students with a 50 percent reduction in school fees, effective from the 2025/2026 academic year.

In a press release issued on Sunday, August 31, 2025, the Ministry explained that the intervention has been made possible through the Government’s flagship “No-Fee-Stress” Policy for tertiary students across the country.

By this initiative, Government has absorbed about half of the approved fees for all first-year students enrolled in Nursing and Allied Health Training Institutions. The Ministry emphasised that all institutions are strictly required to adhere to the approved fees and items as communicated, warning that no institution is permitted to charge above the approved amount or demand payment for items covered under the policy.

The statement further noted that this policy fulfils the commitment of President John Dramani Mahama to provide financial relief for parents and students pursuing academic and professional dreams.

Principals of Health Training Institutions have been directed to comply fully with the directive, with the Ministry cautioning that any Principal who contravenes the order or imposes unauthorised fees does so at their own peril.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of students and advancing equitable access to health training education. It also instructed Heads of Health Training Institutions to immediately commence the necessary processes for admissions into the 2025/2026 academic year.

The release was signed by Tony Goodman, Deputy Director and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.
