Fire destroys Nkawkaw apartment as firefighters save adjoining buildings

The Ghana National Fire Service responded to a domestic fire on April 14, 2026, at House No. EJ-0000-3031 in Nkawkaw Accra Town.

The distress call was received at 10:44 hours, with firefighters arriving at 10:52 hours to find a chamber and hall apartment fully engulfed in flames.

The crew initiated operations to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings, bringing the situation under control at 11:06 hours and fully extinguishing it at 11:17 hours.

The apartment and its contents were extensively damaged, but no casualties were recorded.

Five adjoining structures were successfully salvaged due to the prompt response of the fire service.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
