Assin North, Ghana – Mr. Sylvester Amakye, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin North, has visited four basic schools in the district to mark this year’s “My First Day at School” at the start of the 2025/2026 academic year.
The initiative, observed nationwide, welcomes newly enrolled pupils of public basic schools to help them settle into their new environment.

Mr. Amakye’s tour covered Assin Kushea Presbyterian Basic School, Assin Kushea Anglican Basic School, Assin Kyiano Basic School, and Assin Asempanaye Catholic Basic School.
During the visits, the DCE distributed pencils, exercise books, sharpeners, erasers, soft drinks, and biscuits to the pupils to make them feel at home. He also donated seven hexagonal tables and 42 chairs to some of the schools to enhance teaching and learning at the kindergarten level.
Emphasising the importance of education to national development, Mr. Amakye said children must be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to compete globally. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the educational system and urged parents to enrol their children and ensure they remain in school for a brighter future.
Mr. Ahmed Tijani Hassan, District Director of Education, commended the DCE for the gesture and encouraged school authorities to handle the items with care.
