They were educated on key legal frameworks, including the Whistleblower Act, the  Domestic Violence Act, the Right to Information Act, and the principles of the rule of law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme forms part of the nationwide initiative, \u201cCivic Engagements on the Rule of Law and the Fight Against Corruption,\u201d implemented by the NCCE with support from GIZ and co-funding from the European Union (EU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Abdulai Abdul-Mugis, NCCE\u2019s East Mamprusi Municipal Director, stressed that empowering women with civic knowledge is crucial in combating corruption and strengthening democratic governance. He highlighted that women often face corruption when accessing public services like healthcare and education, making awareness essential for accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWhen women understand the laws that protect them, they gain confidence to speak up and demand fairness in public service delivery,\u201d \u2014 <em>Abdulai Abdul-Mugis<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The expected outcomes include heightened awareness of women\u2019s legal rights, stronger leadership in community development, and broader advocacy for transparency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lance Corporal Amina Braimah from the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) urged women to resist and report corruption and abuse, noting that the law and enforcement institutions are available to protect them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWomen must not tolerate extortion or sexual harassment in any form\u2026 report such conduct without fear,\u201d \u2014 <em>Cpl. Amina Braimah<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Sulley Sawyer Salifu, an investigator from CHRAJ, reinforced the importance of citizens upholding the rule of law and holding leaders accountable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe rule of law ensures everyone is accountable. When citizens, especially women, know their rights, they can demand justice and transparency,\u201d  <em>Mr. Salifu<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants shared real-life experiences of corruption in markets and institutions and pledged to become ambassadors for accountability and integrity in their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A total of 60 participants\u201453 women and seven men\u2014from various communities and women\u2019s associations participated in the session.
