Anyone paying attention to Auditor-General reports, media expos\u00e9s, and the endless scandals debated at chop bars could have predicted it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What matters now is whether this report becomes a roadmap to national financial restoration or just another document that gathers dust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If history has taught us anything, it is that exposing looting is far easier than <a><\/a>recovering stolen funds and holding culprits accountable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Must Happen Next?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Immediate Asset Recovery \u2013 Authorities must act swiftly to reclaim looted assets and freeze hidden assets before they disappear.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Institutional Cooperation \u2013 Key agencies like EOCO, A-G, Auditor-General, and OSP must work in lockstep to close loopholes and enforce the law efficiently.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Competent Investigations &amp; Strong Case Files \u2013 Investigators must build airtight cases that can withstand legal scrutiny, ensuring convictions stick.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Judicial Reforms &amp; Timelines \u2013 The Rules of Court Committee must reform the interlocutory appellate processes. Timelines must be established for looting (and other) cases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fast-Tracked Prosecutions \u2013 No more delays and adjournments\u2014justice must be swift, firm, and uncompromising.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Swift and Independent Trials \u2013 we need:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anti-corruption courts led by judges trained in financial crimes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cases handled by the DPP and well-paid career prosecutors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public Accountability \u2013 we deserve regular updates on how much has been recovered, where it is being reinvested, and who has been held accountable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Independent Oversight \u2013 A non-partisan, professional team must be set up to ensure there is no selective justice in implementing the ORAL report.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not acquiesce to pressures from Chiefs and religious leaders who work quietly and behind the scenes, pleading for mercy on behalf of looters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Looters will fight back. They are well-resourced. They will mobilize loyalists, deploy media allies, and whip up partisan outrage to shield themselves. Witch-hunting will become en vogue. But let\u2019s be clear that only witches can be witch-hunted. If you fear a witch hunt, maybe it\u2019s because you have a broomstick to hide.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No More Excuses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ORAL has exposed the rot. Now, anti-corruption agencies must prove they are up to the task\u2014or be devoured by OMAMPAM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Billions are at stake, and the people will not forgive another wasted opportunity.
