The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 36-year-old suspect in connection with a murder case reported in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect, identified as Chalim Madzaton, also known as Peter Tano, was apprehended at his hideout in Kpaya, a suburb of Ahamansu, following a sustained intelligence-led operation by the Kadjebi District Police Command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to police reports, the incident occurred on 24 March 2026, when the suspect allegedly attacked his girlfriend, Yaa Tugbenyo, aged 55, and her 80-year-old mother, Dakolor Semaka, at their residence in Mangoase near Kadjebi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the attack, Yaa Tugbenyo managed to escape from the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, upon her return, she discovered her mother lying motionless in the house. The matter was subsequently reported to the police, who swiftly moved to the scene to begin investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police officers found the deceased lying on her back with visible signs of violence. The scene was processed, and relevant evidence, including photographs, was collected to support ongoing investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A medical officer at St. Mary Theresa Hospital later confirmed the victim dead, and the body has since been deposited at the hospital\u2019s morgue for preservation and autopsy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be arraigned before court in due course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
