The Ghana Police Service has shot dead two armed robbery suspects following an attack on a mobile money vendor at Tema Community 5.
According to the Tema Regional Police Command, the incident occurred on April 13, 2026, at about 8:30 a.m., when the suspects attacked a MoMo operator at Aba Fosuah Plaza under the pretext of a cash-out transaction.

Police said one suspect, riding as a pillion passenger on a motorbike, pulled a pistol and demanded the victim’s bag containing cash. The victim resisted, leading to a struggle during which she was shot in the leg before the suspects fled with the bag.
A nearby police patrol team responded to a distress call and pursued the suspects, who were riding a black Royal motorbike with registration number M-24-GE 778.
At a junction near Smart Hotel in Community 6, the suspects opened fire on the police team, which returned fire. Both suspects sustained gunshot wounds and fell off the motorbike.
They were transported to the Police Hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival. Their bodies have been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation, identification, and autopsy.
Items retrieved from the suspects include a 9mm Luger pistol loaded with four rounds of ammunition, three Android phones, a Ghana Card, assorted SIM cards, a talisman, a motorbike key, and GH¢11,390.00 in cash. One spent cartridge was also recovered at the robbery scene.
Police said the Ghana Card found on the suspect belongs to the victim.
The victim is currently receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
The police have assured the public of continued efforts to maintain safety and urged vigilance and cooperation in reporting suspicious activities.
