Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, former Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority Board and past Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), is under investigation by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) over financial matters related to his tenure at GIIF.
According to his lawyer, Ken Kuranchie, a group of men in three pickup vehicles arrived at Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi’s residence on Sunday morning, informing him that he was needed at the NIB. He voluntarily accompanied them to the agency’s headquarters before being transferred to the NIB offices in Kawukudi, Accra.
Kuranchie explained that the investigation concerns financial approvals made during his client’s time at GIIF.
“The interrogation has ended, and the NIB has indicated that Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi will remain in custody until Monday,” he told Citi News’ Samuel Ackom.
He added that while further developments could arise later in the evening, the legal team remains on-site, awaiting any updates.
