Former Assin Central MP and NPP presidential hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has endorsed the expansion of the party’s electoral college, arguing that greater inclusivity in decision-making will energize party members and prevent apathy.

Speaking at a TESCON event at the College of Health and Well-Being in Kintampo on February 22, 2025, Agyapong expressed his support for increasing TESCON’s representation in NPP’s national elections. He backed a proposal to raise the voting rights of TESCON representatives from two to five per institution and went further to suggest that all TESCON executives from accredited institutions be granted voting rights.

“Broader participation will strengthen internal democracy and avert voter apathy,” Agyapong stated, emphasizing that empowering TESCON members will foster a sense of ownership and engagement among the party’s youth. He also called on senior party members and former government officials to invest in TESCON to make the NPP more attractive to students.

Later that day, he attended an entrepreneurship seminar at Chesville Hotel in Sunyani, where he shared his life experiences with students from multiple universities, including the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani Technical University, and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He encouraged young people to embrace entrepreneurship as a means of addressing unemployment in Ghana.

Agyapong’s advocacy for an expanded electoral college aligns with ongoing discussions within the NPP on reforming internal election structures to enhance inclusivity and representation.
