The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has expressed profound sorrow following the death of a member of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) in a motor accident near the Obuasi Airport area on Wednesday, November 19.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry’s Communications Directorate, the accident occurred while a five-member NAIMOS team was undertaking a major anti-galamsey operation within the enclave.

The incident claimed the life of one taskforce member, while four others sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical care.
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources extended condolences to the bereaved family and wished the injured officers a swift recovery.
The Ministry also confirmed that a full investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
