Effutu Chief lauds successful Aboakyer Cycling Race in Winneba

Neenyi Ghartey VII, the of the Traditional Area, has expressed his delight over the successful hosting of the Aboakyer Cycling Race (ACR) in , .

The race, organized by the Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF) in collaboration with the (NSA) and the University of Winneba Sports College, was the first edition. In an interview with the media, he expressed his amazement at the race's competitiveness, especially the photo finish.

Neenyi Ghartey VII extended his appreciation to the organizers, cyclists, media, and other stakeholders, stating that “On behalf of the people of Winneba, I want to thank the Federation, NSA, National Sports College-Winneba, cyclists, the media as well as the organizers for making this event successful and a memorable one, I believe the federation is prepared to stay.” He also urged female and disabled cyclists to work hard, adding that “I believe that the sky is the limit.”

He commended the cyclists for their efforts, especially the disabled and female cyclists, who completed the 65-kilometre race. In his words, “Riding for 65 kilometres is not a joke. I don't know what they do outside but for me seeing a 65-kilometre race is quite a distance, and they have done well, especially the disabled rider and the ladies.”

Meanwhile, Mr Collins Kofi Eduafo-Ag, the Technical Director at the University of Education Winneba, has pledged to establish a cycling club in the school following the successful event.

He said, “The Sports College is full of innovation and creativity, so, now that we are able to do this event successfully, we have to also plan and establish a cycling club in the school so that next year's competition will not be those from or National Cyclists team alone, but we also have clubs in the schools and in the communities participating.”
