A designated Technical Team from the ECOWAS Commission, led by Dr Abdel-Fatau Musah, the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security, has concluded a successful working visit to Ghana.
During their stay, the Team engaged in several key meetings and visits, including the Ministry of National Security, the Executive Secretariat of the Accra Initiative, the General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces, and the Headquarters of the Multinational Joint Task Force in Tamale, as disclosed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The Commissioner expressed appreciation for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's strong leadership in spearheading the Accra Initiative and hosting the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), emphasizing his commitment to pan-Africanism.
The discussions between the ECOWAS Commission and the Accra Initiative focused on collaboration in addressing regional terrorism and exploring avenues for funding the initiative.
Dr Abdel-Fatau Musah reiterated the ECOWAS Commission's support for the Accra Initiative and expressed the intention to formalize the partnership through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), further strengthening the relationship between ECOWAS and the Accra Initiative.
