The Deputy Minister of Education, John Ntim Fordjour, has strongly denounced Excellence Publications for publishing a textbook that maligns Christian content.

In a tweet posted on Thursday, Mr Fordjour, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Assin South, described the content found in the textbook titled ‘History of Ghana for Basic Schools as offensive and misguided.

Expressing his disapproval of the book's shocking nature, he criticized its presence in the market, highlighting the risk of unsuspecting learners being exposed to misleading material.

“I completely condemn the extremely offensive content found in a textbook published by ‘Excellence Publications and surreptitiously released into the market for unsuspecting learners. The content is highly objectionable and misguided,” read a portion of his tweet.

The Deputy Minister further commended the swift action taken by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) to recall the books from the market.

He underscored the significant role of religion in the country and urged writers to approach the topic with utmost care.

“Ghana is known for its peace for a reason, and the profound role of religion cannot be undermined,” he stated.

The Deputy Minister's condemnation of the offensive textbook content reflects the importance of promoting religious sensitivity and respect in educational materials, ensuring that learners are exposed to accurate and appropriate information.
