The Spokesperson of the Wa Naa, Jinpehi Naa Kadri Ibrahim, said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency that the incident occurred in the absence of the chief and other principal members of the palace.
He explained that the individuals who carried out the flogging acted on their own and had no authority from the Wa Naa.
According to him, anyone who believed the victims had committed an offence should have reported the matter to the appropriate law enforcement agencies instead of taking the law into their own hands.
The palace has pledged to work with the police to ensure the matter is handled professionally and that those responsible are brought to justice.
