The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with the robbery attack on the Ahyiresu-Kwame Dwumor Sreso (KDS) road in the Nyinahin District, which resulted in the death of Berekum Chelsea FC player Dominic Frimpong.
According to the Police, the arrests were made by a joint team from the Police Intelligence Directorate Headquarters, Anti-Robbery Unit, CID Headquarters, Ashanti South Command and the Ashanti Regional Police Command.

The incident occurred on April 12, 2026, after which the Inspector-General of Police deployed intelligence officers to support the manhunt for the perpetrators.
Police said an intelligence-led operation conducted at Atimatim in Kumasi on April 15, 2026, led to the arrest of suspect Mohammed Ahmed, also known as “I Can Do,” identified as the alleged gang leader, and suspect Bawa Gideon. The suspects allegedly attempted to flee and fired at officers during the operation.
Exhibits retrieved included a pistol with two rounds of .32 ammunition, eleven BB cartridges, a “blantine,” pepper spray, desert boots, assorted mobile phones and a black pullover.
During interrogation, Mohammed Ahmed allegedly admitted involvement in several robberies, including the Nkawie robbery, the Fufuso mobile vendor attack and the attack involving the Berekum Chelsea FC team.
Police said the suspect also mentioned accomplices identified as Dauda, Huefe and A.T., who are currently on the run and have been declared wanted.
Mohammed Ahmed is receiving treatment under police guard at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, while Bawa Gideon remains in custody assisting investigations.
The Police appealed to the public to provide information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects and said the arrested suspects would be put before the court as investigations continue.
