Following the incident, the Inspector-General of Police deployed intelligence officers to support a manhunt for the perpetrators. On April 15, 2026, an intelligence-led operation at Atimatim, Kumasi, led to the arrest of Mohammed Ahmed, also known as “I Can do,” identified as the gang leader, and Bawa Gideon after they attempted to flee and fired at police.

Exhibits retrieved include a pistol with two rounds of .32 ammunition, eleven BB cartridges, a “blantine,” pepper spray, desert boots, assorted mobile phones, and a black pullover.

During interrogation, Mohammed Ahmed admitted involvement in several robberies, including the Nkawie robbery, the Fufuso mobile vendor attack, and the attack on the Berekum Chelsea team. He also named accomplices Dauda, Huefe, and A.T., who remain at large.

Mohammed Ahmed is receiving treatment under police guard at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, while Bawa Gideon remains in custody assisting investigations.

The suspects Dauda, Huefe, and A.T. have been declared wanted, and the police have appealed to the public for information leading to their arrest.

Police said efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects, who will be put before the court to face the law.
