Police said the suspect, a driver and resident of Pankrono, attempted to flee after locking up a single-room facility upon spotting officers, but was immediately apprehended.

A search of the room led to the retrieval of 39 compressed, sellotaped slab parcels of dried leaves concealed in a “Ghana Must Go” bag, and 10 similar parcels concealed in a black sack. The substances are suspected to be narcotic drugs.

In his cautioned statement, the suspect denied ownership of the items, claiming the room belongs to his girlfriend, identified as Anita, and another individual, Cindy. He stated that he had gone to visit them, but found them absent and the door open.

The exhibits were sealed and labelled in the presence of the suspect and an independent witness and will be forwarded to the Police Forensic Science Laboratory in Accra for analysis.

The suspect remains in police custody assisting investigations, while efforts are ongoing to locate the other individuals mentioned.

Police have reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations against illicit drug activities and have urged the public to provide credible information to support the fight against drug-related crimes.
