The Nima Divisional Police Command has arrested Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart, host of Onua TV/FM’s morning show, over remarks the police say could threaten peace and security.
According to a police statement, he has been cautioned for offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), and is currently assisting with investigations.

The National Media Commission (NMC) also condemned Captain Smart’s comments, describing them as unprofessional and inciteful. In a letter to Onua FM, the Commission said his broadcast allegedly called for insurrection against the state, which it said went beyond legitimate criticism and amounted to irresponsible broadcasting.
The NMC urged Onua FM’s management to uphold professional broadcasting standards and exercise greater editorial responsibility to prevent similar incidents in the future.
