The Bekwai Circuit Court has convicted film director Daniel Nyamekye for stealing cash and items valued at GH¢6,660.00 from actor Ebenezer Manu.
Nyamekye pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful entry and stealing and was convicted on his own plea. The court, presided over by Mr Mark Diboro Tairima, deferred sentencing to July 19, 2022, and remanded him into prison custody.

Police Chief Inspector Christian Osborn Amartey told the court that the complainant, Ebenezer Manu, was an actor while Nyamekye was a film director, and the two had been working together for some time.
The prosecution said Nyamekye visited Manu at his residence on June 25, 2022, and secretly took one of the actor’s room keys before leaving.
According to the police, Nyamekye returned to Manu’s house two days later and used the stolen key to open the room. He allegedly stole GH¢4,800.00 in cash and a flat-screen television valued at GH¢1,860.00.
The court heard that a witness, Mariam Aminu, spotted Nyamekye carrying the television and raised an alarm, forcing him to flee.
Manu was later informed about the incident and reported the matter to the police. Nyamekye was subsequently arrested from his hideout on July 5, 2022.
During investigations, the convict admitted to the offence in his caution statement.
