The Ministry of Education has called on the Ghana Police Service to urgently arrest the interdicted Bole Senior High School teacher who remains on the run weeks after a nationwide manhunt was launched.

In a statement signed by Deputy Minister for Education Dr Clement Abas Apaak, the Ministry expressed concern that the suspect had still not been apprehended despite the seriousness of the allegations against him.

The Ministry noted that the teacher recently granted a media interview claiming his actions were unintentional and requesting a transfer to a village school, adding that the interview should provide investigators with useful leads.

It further alleged that information available to the Ministry indicates the teacher’s conduct was deliberate and that investigators have obtained additional videos allegedly showing him engaging in similar inappropriate conduct with other female students.

The Ministry described the alleged misconduct as unacceptable and urged anyone with credible information on the teacher’s whereabouts to report it to the police or the Ministry.

It also raised concerns over increasing cases of indiscipline involving teachers, school heads and students, warning that such behaviour undermines education and public confidence in schools.

The Ministry said Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has directed the Ghana Education Service to strictly enforce disciplinary measures against misconduct in pre-tertiary institutions and announced plans to hold a National Dialogue on indiscipline in schools.
