Mr. Francis Songeh, Convener of Alan Supporters in the Oti Region, has announced their endorsement of Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful.
Mr. Songeh highlighted the qualities and traits shared by Kennedy Ohene Agyepong and Alan Kyerematen, emphasizing their common belief in job creation.
Despite Alan Kyerematen's separation from the NPP, the group affirmed their loyalty to the party and their commitment to supporting Kennedy Agyepong in the presidential primaries.
Francis Songeh pointed out that Alan Kyerematen, during his tenure as Minister of Trade and Industry, championed initiatives such as the One District, One Factory (1D1F) agenda, the establishment of Business Resource Centres across the country, and the inauguration of automobile assembly plants.
He asserted that Kennedy Agyepong exhibited similar traits and was the standout candidate among the aspirants.
The Convener of Alan Supporters stressed the importance of job creation in addressing youth unemployment and fostering economic growth in Ghana.
He argued that a candidate like Kennedy Agyepong, who shares this vision, should be supported to secure the NPP's presidential candidacy.
In light of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) selecting John Dramani Mahama, a candidate from the North, as their flagbearer, Mr. Songeh advocated for balance by choosing a candidate from the South for the NPP.
He cautioned against the disastrous consequences of selecting another Northern candidate for the NPP.
Mr. Songeh, who also serves as an Assemblyman for Kponkpa/Asuboe Electoral Area in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region, called on delegates participating in the November 4 polls to decisively vote for Kennedy Agyepong as the NPP's leader in the 2024 Presidential election.
He emphasized that breaking the eight-year cycle would be achievable with Kennedy Agyepong's leadership and called for unity within the party to achieve this goal.
