Three students of Salaga Senior High School have been convicted and sentenced by the Salaga Magistrate Court for firearm possession, threats of death, and causing harm following a violent altercation that left one person with multiple stab wounds.
The students—Nuru Ibrahim (Ibi), Hardi Hamza (Mad Lion), and Abubakari Zaidu (Macharjia)—pleaded guilty to the charges and were each fined 100 penalty units (GHS 1,200). In default, they will serve six months of hard labour in prison.
Additionally, the court, presided over by His Lordship Edward Essel, ordered Abubakari Zaidu to pay GHS 500 as compensation for the victim’s medical expenses.
The students have also been placed on a 12-month bond of good behaviour, with a default penalty of six months imprisonment with hard labour. Meanwhile, the locally manufactured pistol and ammunition used in the attack have been confiscated by the state.
The case follows a violent clash at Salaga SHS, leading to the arrest and prosecution of the students.
