CorpsAfrica/Ghana organizes inaugural “Project Demo Day” to foster African philanthropy and youth development

CorpsAfrica/Ghana, a non-profit organization that recruits, trains, and deploys young volunteers for community-led projects, recently organized its first-ever “Project Demo Day” in .

The event aimed to promote African philanthropy and equip youth with professional skills in proposal development, presenting, pitching fundraising, and networking.

According to Mr. Moses Cofie, Country Director for CorpsAfrica/Ghana, the demo day was inspired by the American TV show “Shark Tank,” where aspiring entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to secure funding.

The organization has deployed 16 volunteers to various communities in Ghana's Central, Volta, and Northern Regions to identify needs and find sustainable solutions.

These community development projects include building schools, wells, and agricultural and irrigation systems, and supporting small business start-ups in Ghana, , , , and .

Moreover, CorpsAfrica has secured a US$59.4 million partnership with the Mastercard Foundation to expand volunteer work to , , and , primarily to combat poverty.

Mr. Cofie praised the dedication of the volunteers, who have served their communities for seven months, assisting in identifying and addressing major challenges.

During the Project Demo Day, six selected volunteers presented their community-identified projects. These projects included vocational skills training for women and girls in Nantong Zoo, building ' accommodation and a nursery school in Anweem Kissi, and constructing a technical training workshop in Peki-Tsibu, among others.

Representatives from various organizations, including Compassionate Ghana, Vodafone Ghana, Peace Corps, Mastercard Foundation, , and more, witnessed the ceremony.

They commended CorpsAfrica/Ghana for their community-based initiatives and pledged to collaborate to inspire young Africans in solution-oriented philanthropic works.
