President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the ongoing constitutional review process, expressing satisfaction with the progress made so far.
Hosting the Constitution Review Committee on Tuesday, March 4, Mahama commended the eight-member team, chaired by Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh, for their work and assured them of continued government backing.
The meeting marked the committee’s maiden stakeholder engagement, during which they sought the President’s views on areas of the constitution that may require amendments. They also briefed him on their progress and highlighted areas where they needed additional support.
Mahama, while appreciating the committee’s efforts, pointed to key areas requiring review, including the election of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), the emoluments of Article 71 office holders, and the appointment of Ministers from Parliament.
