Church of Pentecost organizes clean-up exercise to promote environmental care

The Abundant Life Assembly of of Pentecost (COP) in the Michel Camp district recently conducted a clean-up exercise in the Nmlitsakpo electoral area in Kpone-Katamanso. This activity marked the culmination of a week-long environmental care campaign organized by the church.

The primary objective of the clean-up exercise was to ensure cleanliness in the vicinity surrounding the church and the wider community. Mr. Philip Agmor, the Presiding Elder overseeing the Assembly, emphasized the importance of Christians maintaining a safe and clean environment. He reiterated the COP’s commitment to promoting good sanitation and improving the health conditions of both its members and the larger community.

Highlighting the church’s long-standing efforts to uphold cleanliness in communities where its churches are located, Mr. Agmor underscored the alignment of a clean environment with the church’s principles. He emphasized the responsibility of community members to prioritize environmental care for the betterment of health and well-being.

The clean-up initiative, according to Mr. Agmor, will be executed in multiple phases across various communities. He urged church members to instil proper sanitation practices in their homes and workplaces, serving as positive examples for younger generations.

Furthermore, Mr. Agmor called upon local authorities, such as the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) and the Grid Company (), to implement measures to prevent the dumping of refuse under the pylons in the area.

The clean-up event saw the active participation of approximately 100 congregants from the COP’s Abundant Life Assembly, who forewent their usual Sunday church service to dedicate their time to cleaning the areas under the GRIDCo pylons, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for residents.

The COP’s Environmental Care Campaign, initiated in 2018 as part of a five-year strategic plan, aims to combat filth across the country under the theme “Possessing the Nations.” In its initial phase, the church collaborated with the Environmental Service Providers Association (ESPA) to conduct periodic clean-up campaigns, contributing to the ongoing efforts to rid communities of filth.
